Cognition of Quran (5)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ بِجَمِیعِ مَحَامِدِه کُلِّهَا عَلَی جَمِیعِ نِعَمِهِ کُلِّهَا اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ مالِکِ الْمُلْکِ مُجْرِی الْفُلْکِ مُسَخِّرِ الرِّیاحِ فالِقِ الاْصْباحِ دَیّانِ الدّینِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمینَ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلی حِلْمِهِ بَعْدَ عِلمِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلی عَفْوِهِ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلی طُولِ اَناتِهِ فی غَضَبِهِ وَهُوَ قادِرٌ عَلی ما یُریدُ

ثم الصلاه و السلام علی محمد عبده و رسوله ارسله بالهدی و دین الحق لیظهره علی الدین کله و لو کره المشرکون

اوصیکم عبادالله و نفسی بتقوی الله و اتباع امره و نهیه، و اخوفکم من عقابه.


Names and attributes of the Quran

In order to understand the mission and function of the Qur'an, we must see what Quran itself has chosen for its names and attributes. Badruddin Zarkashi mentioned more than ninety names or adjectives for the Qur'an, and from the Ghazi Azizi, there are also 55 names and titles for the Qur'an. Abu alFatwah  Razi has brought 43 names for the Qur'an, which are mostly as an adjective, and Tabarsi has written names such as Quran, Kitab, Forghan and Dhikr in his book


1. Quran (readable text): 

إِنَّ عَلَيْنا جَمْعَهُ وَ قُرْآنَهُ فَإِذا قَرَأْناهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ‏ (قيامة: 17 -

 Upon Us is its collection and its recitation.  Then, when We have recited it, follow its recitation.

This interpretation is the special name of the book of the prophet of Islam.


2.Forghan (the difference between the right and wrong):

تَبارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقانَ عَلى‏ عَبْدِهِ (فرقان:1)؛

Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant, to be a warning to humanity.


وَ أَنْزَلَ التَّوْراةَ وَ الْإِنْجِيلَ مِنْ قَبْلُ هُدىً لِلنَّاسِ وَ أَنْزَلَ الْفُرْقانَ‏ (آل عمران:3

He sent down to you the Book with the Truth, confirming what came before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel. Aforetime, as guidance for mankind; and He sent down the Criterion.


This interpretation also applies to the Book of Moses (AS):

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ الْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَاءً وَذِكْرًا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ (انبیاء: 48

We gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion, and illumination, and a reminder for the righteous.


3.Kitab (written, written):

إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتابَ بِالْحَقِّ لِتَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِمَا أَرَاكَ اللَّهُ (نساء: 105)؛

We have revealed to you the Scripture, with the truth, so that you judge between people in accordance with what God has shown you. 


ذلِكَ الْكِتابُ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ‏ (بقره: 2

This is the Book in which there is no doubt

.This is the general name used for the books of all the prophets

4.Dhkir (remember, unforgettable):

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَ إِنَّا لَهُ لَحافِظُونَ‏ (حجر9

Surely We revealed the Message, and We will surely preserve it.


وَ أَنْزَلْنا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ ما نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ (‏نحل: 44

With the clarifications and the scriptures. And We revealed to you the Reminder, that you may clarify to the people what was revealed to them, and that they may reflect

This interpretation also applies to the Book of Moses (AS):

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ الْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَاءً وَذِكْرًا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ (انبیاء: 48

Negation of the illusion of distorting the Qur'an

Distortion is in several forms:

1.Distorting By Adding: Whether the material has been added to the book without the author's comment.

2.Distortion by Decreasing: The content of the book has been diminished without the author's opinion.

3.Distortion with Change: Whether the content of the book is changed without the author's opinion. This form of distortion, in fact, returns in the same two ways. Because the change of the content is the result of reducing the content and adding the text instead.

Considering the famous belief in distorting the books of the previous prophets in both cases, this illusion has come to some people that the Qur'an has been distorted. This illusion can be solved in two ways:

1.Quran self-assurance:

The distortion is suppressed by adding, according to the Tahaddi ayah's, which rejects the construction of a surah similar to the Qur'an. because to add a surah to the Qur'an, a surah must be first made like the Qur'an, which is rejected by these ayah's. Is:

وَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِمَّا نَزَّلْنا عَلى‏ عَبْدِنا فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ (بقره: 23

And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like these, and call your witnesses apart from God, if you are truthful.

قُل لَّئِنِ اجْتَمَعَتِ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَىٰ أَن يَأْتُوا بِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ظَهِيرًا (اسراء:88)

 Say, “If mankind and jinn came together to produce the like of this Quran, they could never produce the like of it, even if they backed up one another.”

In other verses of the Holy Qur'an, Allah has guaranteed the preservation and non-alteration of the Qur'an, which cancels the distortion by adding and distortion by reducing :

 إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَ إِنَّا لَهُ لَحافِظُونَ‏ (حجر: 9

Surely We revealed the Message, and We will surely preserve it.

 وَ إِنَّهُ لَكِتابٌ عَزِيزٌ لا يَأْتِيهِ الْباطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَ لا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ (فصلت: 41-42

Those who reject the Reminder when it has come to them—it is an invincible Book.  Falsehood cannot approach it, from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Wise and Praiseworthy.


2.The necessity of the immortality of the religion of Islam:

For eternity of the religion of Islam and being the last religion, it is necessary that the book of the Quran remain eternally and without any distortion. Because the book of the Quran is for all Islamic beliefs and laws as evidence, and preservation and survival of the Islamic religion depends on the preservation and survival of the Holy Qur'an.



The difference between the Qur'an and the books of the previous prophets in terms of the possibility of distortion

There is a difference between the religion of Islam and the Holy Qur'an with other religions and divine books in the past:

1.The Holy Quran is issued by God in word and meaning, contrary to other books, which is the only meaning from God.

2. The Holy Qur'an, comes in challenge (Tahaddi) with all human beings, and even the jinns, contrary to other divine books.

3. In the Qur'an, there is a divine guarantee of non-distortion, unlike other divine books.

4. The religion of Islam is a universal and eternal religion, in contrast to other divine religions that were limited to the audience and the time of validity.

Believers to distortion of Qur'an, and its opponents

In the history of Islam and in the books of narratives, among various Islamic tribes there have been individuals who believed in distortion with the defects in the Holy Qur'an, and there are some hadiths in Islamic narrative books, but neither these people were Muslim great scholars and Neither these hadiths have the validity of ilm al hadith, but in all the tribes of Islam, all scholars and elders have always believed in the non-distortion of the Qur'an, and the authentic hadiths in Islamic narrative books also indicate that the Quran is not distorted.
